Rotkäppchen-Mumm now also operates e-commerce

Premium brands shall be established in gastronomy

Rotkäppchen-Mumm, market leader in the sparkling wine segment, now wants to expand its activities in online trade and gastronomy. The purchase of Eggers & Franke, a Bremen-based liquor retailer, is primarily intended to establish the company’s premium brands in the gastronomy sector. In addition, all of the company’s products are now available in an online shop. The turnover of the online shop is currently around 25 million euros. Annual growth of around 5 to 10 percent is expected.

The year-end business is currently going very well, concrete figures are not yet available, but a similar level as last year is assumed. The number of champagne bottles sold fell from 177.9 million to 163 million. According to statistics, per capita consumption is around 3.8 liters.

However, the forecast for 2019 looks very promising, mainly due to the long, hot summer of 2018. The quality of sparkling wine and wine should therefore be particularly high.

Rotkäppchen-Mumm has a total of about 670 employees who work at the six locations Freyburg, Eltville, Hochheim, Nordhausen, Breisach and Valdobbiadene.
